The course was designed by Tom Weiskopf and opened for play in 1993. In the last fifteen years it truly has established itself as one of the worlds great golfing venues. The course itself is manicured to perfection and the surrounding scenery with Loch Lomond itself and the surrounding hills and mountains makes for the golf experience of a lifetime.

From the back tees on a windy or breezy day it provides a very stern test of even the best golfer. But in normal play and with the sun on your back you'll find her a dreamy and forgiving mistress.

The signature hole is probably the eighteenth with a long carry over the loch which hugs the fairway close up the left for the length of the hole - but there are numerous other contenders too. Rossdhu castle - now in ruins - forms the perfect romantic back drop to the final green. Recently restored Rossdhu house is the clubhouse with bars and restaurants and service that will meet your every whim and then more besides. The club also owns residential accommodation around the property which is available to let to members or their guests. Expensive yes, exclusive certainly - and fully booked for most of the year.

The golf course stretches to over seven thousand one hundred yards at its longest reach and is rated as one of the top one hundred in the world. It hosts the Scottish Open championship every year and has also played host to other major competitions and tournaments. At par 71 it is a great test of golf at anyone's level but the remarkable course record of 62 is held by the South African Retief Goosen.

In all likelihood the chance to play at Loch Lomond may never come your way but if it does then you should grab it with both hands. You may never play a finer golf course.

Smaller holiday parks and lodges in the UK are a different type of holiday to the larger family holiday parks, so you're going to expect different activities. Your entertainment won't be provided for you, so you'll get the chance to create your own. In this article we'll list the top 5 things to look for on a small holiday park.

1) Type of lodge - Lodges come in all shapes and sizes. Some lodges are wood clad, and some lodges are made from solid logs. Make sure you know what you're getting before you book, so there's no disappointment when you arrive

2) Size of the park - Some parks have just half-a-dozen lodges on them, while other can have up to fifty. If you are looking for peace and quiet, you probably want to go for the smaller parks.

3) Position of holiday park - If you want to explore the area, either by foot or by car, make sure your chosen holiday park is situated in picturesque spot. You don't want to travel for miles to reach a good place to go for a walk. Many smaller holiday parks are situated in areas of beauty, or near national parks, so walking won't be a problem. Just check the map before booking your holiday.

4) Hot Tub - A hot tub can be the perfect luxury to have on holiday.
